Camo is a new leopard! Demilitarized, this eye-catching and impactful pattern is trooping in to win the final battle over other trendy prints. Intricate, arresting design combined with fine tailoring, dazzling fabrics and dashing hues makes a stylish knockout. From shoes and pants, through dresses, tops and coats, the camouflage trend transforms this utilitarian, obscure motif into the chic fashion staple. The effect is unexpected and astonishing, as the camo garments and accessories strike the senses with visually splendid palette and lavish lines.
Deer hunting or war zone fighting, camouflage has been widely used for its disguising qualities for centuries. Nowadays however, it aggressively comes out of the forests and battlefields, and makes its striking appearance on the fashion runways in the collections of Valentino, Michael Kors, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Laboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Carolina Herrera, to enumerate a few. And this time, camouflage is applied not to hide or blend in but to be noticed and admired!
Dragonflies, grasshoppers, scarab beetles, butterflies, bees, cicadas: they all conquer the fashion world spreading their wings on the Red Carpet and beyond! Striking prints, embellished appliqués, exquisitely crafted jewelry, ornamented accessories: insects have them all covered. Allured by the papparazi’s flashes, bugs become stars in Valentino, Vera Wang, Givenchy, Lanvin, to enumerate a few. Metamorphosing from creepy, crawly beasts into mesmerizing, beautiful creatures, insects touch our imagination and convince us to come closer and look at them in amazement.
So let’s take a look!
“[…] the sun, which as it sank lower, seemed to spread itself in benediction over the vanishing city where she had drawn her breath. He stretched out his hand desperately as if to snatch only a wisp of air, to save a fragment of the spot that she had made lovely for him.” F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby“

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Vanilla, strawberry, coconut, mint or maybe something more imaginative like ginger rosewater, white chocolate banana curry or goat cheese cashew caramel? I must confess that I haven’t tried those last three yet (they definitely sound tempting), but so far, my old time favorite flavor is … now you know! Pistachio!
Yesterday evening, I was invited to an exclusive shopping event at Donna Karan New York hosted by Natalie Suarez, model and blogger who was featuring a new DKNY City Surfing collection. We all enjoyed champagne, cupcakes and great music! I had a chance to meet Natalie, her sister Dylana Suarez, also fashion blogger and stylist, and many other great people.
