Killer Heels

Object of desire, fascination, envy and inspiration, a high-heeled shoe was a star at the Brooklyn Museum event last Saturday. From the Venetian Renaissance exquisite slippers to the killer stilettos of Christian Louboutin, the exhibition featured more than 160 shoes by various designers including Chanel, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Manolo Blahnik, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Elsa Schiaparelli and others.

The event kicked off with a concert by The Hot Sardines who played their New Orleans-meets-wartime Paris jazz, followed by the Curator Talk about the most exciting of the Killer Heels and the Hands-On Art experience, where you could design a heel of your dreams using provided modelling materials, colorful pens, decorations and glitters. Lots of fun, not only for kids! Surprisingly, (or not, considering how many shoe designers are male!) I saw many men playing with the squishy ”model magic” shaping imaginative slippers and boots and, I must admit, their shoes came out fantastic.

Below, some most inspiring Killer Heels.
