NY Couture Fashion Week: Helen Oro

Coco Chanel couldn’t have put this better when she once said: “Every day is a fashion show and the world is the runway“. NY Fashion Week is over but the show must go on! And it does, all around the world with LA Fashion Week (4-13th October) followed by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week coming to Istanbul and Tokyo (13-18th October), then going to Moscow (23-27st October).

Here, I am coming back to you from NYFW with Helen Oro and her exceptional shoe collection shown at the NY Couture Fashion Week few weeks ago. Helen Oro is an emerging Canadian designer and Beauty and Fashion Director of Native Max Magazine. As a descendant of a Plains Cree from Pelican Lake First Nation in Canada, Helen is inspired by her heritage and you can see that clearly in her unique collection of intricately beaded footwear, shades and accessories.

I had the pleasure to talk with Helen after the runway show.

Many thanks to Helen Oro for the interview and photos.

  1. Yes you do have to have a lot of patience to do this kind of work. And feathers oh my! My coworker told me about a salon called Fringe Salon which I think is in Soho.
